Scott Lucey, Esq. hails from Malden, Massachusetts, where he works in an unassuming office building that's only a few steps up from Saul Goodman's when Saul worked out of the back room of a nail salon. (If you know, you know.)Fancy law offices aren't Scott's jam. The good news? Since he isn't paying an exorbitant Boston rent for that trendy Back Bay address, he can pass those savings onto his clients. That’s not to suggest his rates are cheap. (They’re not.) But they will be easier to swallow.

As for his education, Scott graduated from Bentley University with a Bachelor of Science in finance. In the early aughts, Scott attended Massachusetts School of Law at night while working two jobs during the day—the first in his family's insurance business (Lucey Insurance, also in Malden) and the second for National Grid reading electric meters. He earned his law degree in 2007.

Today, Scott is an accomplished attorney with seventeen years of experience in real estate conveyancing and litigation. He recently shifted his focus to cybersecurity law and has been undergoing specialized training, beginning with a rigorous online course through Harvard called "Cybersecurity: Managing Risk in the Information Age." He has also recently earned a Master of Law in Cyber Law and Data Privacy from Drexel University, as well as the prestigious CIPP/US designation.

Why the shift from real estate law to cybersecurity? Scott sees an opportunity to be more useful in the latter practice area. "The biggest cases regarding real estate were decided in the last 30 years," he explains. "The biggest cybersecurity and data privacy cases will be decided in the next 30." Scott also warns that every business on the planet will be affected by a cybersecurity incident at some point. "The attack/breach/hack is coming," he says. "One hundred percent. Every business will get hit sometime, no matter what they do to stop it. Every. Single. Business."

This reality means Scott will have no shortage of work for years to come.

Scott is a member of the International Association of Privacy Professionals and the Massachusetts Bar Association. When he's not working or studying, Scott enjoys playing chess (badly), cooking, traveling, and following his beloved Liverpool Football Club.
